Join us for a wonderful evening celebrating 400 years of the Bard’s works!
Bernard Cornwell, best-selling author, whose books about the Napoleonic Wars were turned into movies by the BBC and most recently, has had his novels on King Alfred picked up by Netflix for an original series called The Last Kingdom will lead the evening.
Cornwell, the passionate story-teller, will talk about the genesis of the London Theatre in Shakespeare’s lifetime, while also looking at his part in making it popular. With the theatre’s popularity also came opposition and distain. Stories told from all perspectives will enthrall patrons with a new and fun perspective. Cornwell will even cover the ludicrous arguments against his authorship. The evening will amuse even if it doesn’t instruct.
Cocktails will be served starting at 6:00PM, so make sure you arrive early. Following the lecture there will be a reception with passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks. This evening will be a wonderful gift from the Library Society to all of it’s members and patrons, so don’t miss out on the fun and RSVP today.
Tickets are $50 for members, $75 for nonmembers, and if you are interested in becoming First Edition Sponsors you can do so for $500. If you have questions about becoming a First Edition Sponsor please contact Anne Cleveland. All but $25 per ticket is tax deductible.
