Visiting the Library Society

The Charleston Library Society is located at 164 King Street, along the Gateway Walk in the heart of the historic district.

HOURS: The Library is currently running daily access for members only, Monday-Friday from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Guests and the general public are welcome to join for events and programs with RSVP.

ENTRY: Members and guests use the main entrance on King Street, at the top of the marble staircase. Library offerings and restroom facilities are wheelchair accessible by way of the rear entrance to the building or under the front stairs, entrances typically reserved for staff.

PARKING: There is one handicapped parking space available in the parking lot. There are often one or two additional spaces for members, but parking is also reserved for staff. There are ample parking opportunities along King Street in addition to parking garages located to the east and west of the intersection at King and Queen Streets.
