Workshop // Inks and Indigo

Join our talented team in the Bindery to discover the wide ranging applications of natural inks and dyes through indigo. This hands-on workshop will explore traditional methods utilizing foraged materials that have been used locally as well as more globally across cultures for centuries. Students will learn how these age-old processes connect us to the natural world while producing vibrant colors for writing, painting, and creative expression. In a year of exploration and discovery, and on the heels of a panel discussion highlighting the Innovation of Indigo, this new class offering brings additional insight to the special nature of this Lowcountry crop.

All materials will be provided and no prior bookbinding experience is necessary. Please wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy, or bring an apron if you have one.
