What Dreams May Come

Renowned saxophonist Caroline Leigh Halleck and piano talent Greg Hankins return with a curated set that includes some of their own compositions, in addition to several works from Caleb Burhan, the renowned composer of ‘ What Dreams May Come’. The unique duo will blur lines across musical genres, weaving contemporary and classical concert music with jazz, pop, and folk – two talented artists in close conversation, yet dreaming out loud.

About Caroline Leigh Halleck

Caroline is an American saxophonist, teacher and festival organizer based in Bologna, Italy. She has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe, appearing in major festivals including Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, Ravenna Festival, and Bologna Festival. Caroline holds first prizes in numerous competitions as a soloist, including the University of Georgia’s Concerto Competition, and in chamber music, notably Italy’s Premio delle Arti. She was 2023 Changes resident with Swedish composer Ellen Arkbro, and was named a winner of Bologna Festival’s Call for Artists in 2025. An active chamber musician, Caroline gave the European premiere of David Maslanka’s Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble. She performs regularly in multiple ensembles including the all-women Gershwin Quintet. Caroline teaches saxophone at multiple institutions in Italy and serves as the co-artistic director of Ulysses Festival. She holds degrees from the University of Georgia (2017), the Conservatorio di Musica “F.A. Bonporti” di Trento (2020), and is the first saxophonist to graduate in Chamber Music from the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” (2023) where she studied with Connie Frigo, Marco Albonetti, and Marco Zuccarini. Caroline is a JLV Sound Paris Ambassador.    

About Greg Hankins

Pianist Greg Hankins is based in Athens, GA, where he collaborates with faculty, students, and guest artists at the University of Georgia. His recital partners have included members of major symphony orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Cleveland Symphony, Boston Symphony, and many more. He has accompanied the masterclasses of artists such as Emmanuel Pahud and Renée Fleming. From 2012 to 2021, he served on the faculty of the New York State Summer School for the Arts School of Choral Studies. Recent engagements include appearances at festivals including New Muse Concerts and Piccolo Spoleto USA in Charleston, SC; Timucua in Orlando, FL; and Festival Capo di Leuca in Puglia, Italy. Greg holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Georgia (MM) and James Madison University (BM). His major teachers include Richard Zimdars and Eric Ruple.
