Speaker Series: Patrick Ahearn

September 24, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join Patrick Ahearn FAIA, award-winning architect and author of Timeless, as he opens the doors to his world of traditional architecture combined with the ideals of modernism. He will share some of the firm’s most recent projects ranging from Wellesley, MA to Martha’s Vineyard, and walk us through how he adapts and applies philosophy’s greater good theory – the idea that architecture has the power to improve lives, to increase happiness and to encourage friendly and familiar interactions – to each of his projects. Ahearn will cover some details on the historic nature of Charleston to give the presentation a local flare. To RSVP, call 843-723-9912 or email dreutter@charlestonlibrarysociety.org

Celebrated as one of America’s top classical architects, Patrick Ahearn — a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects — began his career with ambitious adaptive-reuse public projects, and for the past 25 years has focused primarily on historically motivated, site-sensitive private residences in New England. Raised in Levittown, New York, and based in Boston for the past four decades, he received degrees in architecture and urban design from Syracuse University. Today, he oversees a firm of 12 designers working in studios in Boston’s Back Bay and in Edgartown, on Martha’s Vineyard. He and his work have been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers and on HGTV.

Timeless sold out of its first two print runs; its third print run has just been published.
