Join us for the finale to the CSO’s vibrant and intimate 2021-2022 season of chamber music performed at the beautifully historic Charleston Library Society – Mozart’s Masterpiece! Written as a showpiece for Mozart’s friend and virtuoso clarinetist Anton Stadler, Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581 is one of the composer’s finest works of his later years. The program will also feature two pieces for English Horn and String Quartet, one by Ulysses Kay, African American composer and nephew of the classic jazz musician King Oliver, and another by Pulitzer-prize-winning American composer Jennifer Higdon. CSO chamber musicians will also perform Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7, written by prolific Hungarian composer, ethnomusicologist, and philosopher, Zoltán Kodály. Artists performing at this event include Yuriy Bekker, Alexander Boissonnault, and Asako Kremer on violins, Jan-Marie Joyce on viola, Norbert Lewandowski and Damian Kremer on violoncellos, Gretchen Roper on clarinet, and Karen Kistler on the English Horn.
