Learn to make a book that can be judged by its cover! In this four-session workshop, students will learn the basics of bookbinding while constructing a beautiful ¾-leather journal with a leather spine, leather corners, and either cloth or marbled paper sides. Beginning with book anatomy, the class will cover the proper techniques for all the basic skills that go into binding a functional and attractive book, including folding, cutting with precision, sewing, covering, and time permitting, gold tooling, or finishing. This style of binding was very popular in the early 19th century, and still makes for an attractive book today!
