Dvořák Piano Quintet for Piccolo

May 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Event Series (See All)
$40.00

Following the success of the Brahms Piano Quintet that they performed for a full house last year, our friends from the College of Charleston and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra join us again in the Main Reading Room to perform one of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire, as part of Charleston’s annual Piccolo Spoleto. Experience sweeping melodies, folk influences, and expressive depth in Dvořák’s piano quintet, celebrated as a cornerstone of Romantic chamber music.

Artists

Tom Hicks (Director of Piano and Artistic Director of the International Piano Series at the College of Charleston) is joined by Yuriy Bekker (Artistic Director of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra), Micah Gangwer (violin), Seth Van Embden (viola), and Benjamin Mekinulov (cello) to tackle this lyrical and emotionally charged work.

About Piccolo Spoleto

Piccolo Spoleto music events celebrate diverse genres and traditions, including the Early Music Series with historic works by composers like Vivaldi and Bach, A World of Jewish Culture honoring rich heritage, the Young Artists Series at the College of Charleston highlighting collegiate talent, and Youth Music performances by young musicians at exceptional venues.
