Event Series Event Series: Spring 2025

Contemporary Yet Layered with JAM

April 25 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

$10.00 – $15.00

While reaching new heights from the stardom of Million Dollar Decorators, designer Jeffrey Alan Marks certainly knows how to make a room feel dramatic but also completely comfortable. We are thrilled to welcome designer and author Jeffrey Alan Marks to explore room by room through his latest release with Rizzoli, This is Home, which showcases his 1925 beach cottage in Montecito, his family home in Greenwich, Connecticut, and many more. His soulful yet contemporary interiors on both coasts successfully reflect the way its inhabitants want to live along with achieving the unique perspectives of their locations – all fundamentally derived from Marks’ deep and profound architectural crush on the British vernacular.

About the Book

Designer Marks’s second book celebrates his relaxed and refined interiors inspired by the stylish ease and laid-back coastal feel of Southern California. Since the launch of his first book and hit TV Show Million Dollar Decorators, Jeffrey Alan Marks has married and become a father. His growing family grounds his new book, a celebration of the idea of home as represented in ten houses, bookended by his own on the West and East Coasts. Marks believes a home must reflect the way its inhabitants want to live, their unique perspective, and how they approach their lives. Trained in England, Marks has long had a deep and profound architectural crush on the British vernacular, which creates a pleasing interplay with his Southern California roots. The result: homes that feel layered and dramatic, but always comfortable. The homes explored in the book include his 1925 beach cottage in Montecito; a clean Bahamian compound open to the azure seas; a working Los Angeles horse farm; and Marks’s new family home in Greenwich, Connecticut. Along the way Marks shares key bits of advice for creating the looks. Tailored yet comfortable is key, as Marks mixes antiques with contemporary pieces for a look that is entirely unique.

About the Author

Jeffrey Alan Marks’ work is equal parts good nature and good taste. Among America’s design icons — thanks in part to his star turn on TV — the bicoastal designer is known for relaxed and refined spaces that are inimitably original. His collaborations with architects on new homes provide lasting charm for generations. The author of a forthcoming book (Rizzoli, Spring 2025) and The Meaning of Home (Rizzoli, 2013), Jeffrey is frequently featured in international design bibles including Elle DécorArchitectural DigestVogue Living, and House Beautiful. For more than 30 years his projects have spanned the world, from storied London townhomes to sand-swept Malibu beach compounds, always with one thing in common: a fervor for authenticity. Designed to be lived in rather than looked at, Jeffrey’s classic and tailored interiors stand apart — each layered with personality, timeless color choices, and custom details. He has designed eponymous product collections for Kravet, The Rug Company, A. Rudin, Palecek, and The Tile Shop. He lives with his husband and their daughter in Montecito and East Hampton and is currently at work on residential projects across the globe.
