A Staged Reading of "Far Appomattox"

The Charleston Library Society will present a staged reading of a new play, "FAR APPOMATTOX" on Sunday November 16, at 6pm.

Based on the best-seller by historian Burke Davis, "To Appomattox", the play chronicles the final dramatic days of the Civil War leading up to the famous encounter between General Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant, exactly 150 years ago.

2015 will mark the Sesquicentennial of the surrender and end of the Civil War.  "Far Appomattox" will be read by the original stage cast from Virginia in full costume.  The play is captivating for all ages, and school-age children are encouraged to attend.

"Far Appomattox" will be published in early 2015 by Loyola Marymount University Press.  The playwright, Frank Levering will hold a Q& A after the reading.
